London

This weekend was a bit of a boozy do. Having had a ‘few’ drinks on Friday I travelled down to London to meet with friends Matt & Sally. The evening was started with fireworks for the Lord Major’s show down on the river Thames. Actually a very good fireworks display for the UK. Thankfully we managed to get a good spot to watch, right on the river front down near the National Theatre.

From the we went to a lovely little Cuba style bar called Cubana for happy hour Sangria. This is where the evening tone was set. Follow that with a Mojito. Then back on the tube. Incidentially this is the first time I’d been on the tube since the bombings in London. I didn’t notice anyone being particularly uncomfortable or scared to be on there, apart from me when i realised this was the first time i’d been…. Although there were no people with large jackets for rucksacks that stood out, phew!

Now I’ve been to Clapham Highstreet a couple of time now each experience is very different from the next. The Chinese we’d planned to go to was so rammed full that a quieter venue had to be sought out. This turned out to be a little French Cafe/Restaurant (I forget the name) but the food was excellent. The service left a little to be desired, with it taking 3 attempts to get one of the classy homemade burgers correct 🙂 Obviously there was more beer with the meal, then onto some German beer place for a quick glass of Leffe.
The main event of the evening was yet to start. When we arrived at Cafe Sol (Spanish/Mexican themed place) the party we were joining hadn’t even been served its main course, so we settled at the bar again.
As the evening rolled on fun was had by all, many drinks (and i can still feel it) The most bizarre was one of the girls attending the party lived in the town where I first went to school. Her mum was also a teacher there, while I don’t remember she could well have been my teacher. Small world!
Matt thought we needed to optimize our long waits at the bar. So ordering a bottle of beer, Smirnoff Ice, shot of Vodka. The Vodka was added to the already vodka filled Smirnoff Ice. Needless to say we drank these at the same rate as everyone elses single drink we got very drunk. I passed out within minutes of getting back to my friends apartment.
