Peak District Pirates

This weekend was a nice get away with old friends from University. We’d hired 4 cottages for a total of 20 people in a nice little place called Darwin Lakes. They were amazing new cottages complete with all the mod cons you could ask for. The weekend was a chance to get away and have some fun walking as well as an evening of fancy dress fun as Pirates.

Saturday morning was a nice walk out in the peaks with a stop off for lunch followed by another walk back to the cars in the afternoon.

Thankfully we made it pack to the cars just in time to avoid the rain. However when we returned to the cottages we were treated to an amazing rainbow.

Gold was not found in the cottage, but pirates were

The evening was excellent. We had agreed to have an evening in with lots of alcohol bring brought along. The theme for the evening…Pirates. I managed to get myself a nice little costume. A number of the girls had offered to cook spaghetti Bolognese, and it was excellent.

Lauren and her boyfriend came up with a few drinking games. The mop challenge, an old favorite. But the most enjoyable for me was the cereal box challenge. This is where you have to pick up a cereal box with your teeth, hands behind your back. The is then shortened by an inch until nobody is capable of picking it up.

Will, Laura’s boyfriend, was the final winner, picking up off the floor

We managed to get all the way to a flat piece of cardboard on the floor. I managed to get to within 1 inch, quite an achievement for someone who doesn’t do much exercise. You can see all the action on Google Video

Sunday was a complete washout with only a small walk around Chatsworth house, wow that was nice! Followed by a pub dinner and a few beers, yay! We had a quite night and then just a wander around Matlock and then home on the Monday. This was a really nice weekend as I was able to catch up with people more than usual. Mostly when I catch up with friends its simply when I’m in a club or bar for a few hours. Spending over 2 days with them was great….felt like old times.
