I’ve been wanting to go surfing for a while now, but finally got the opportunity with Nikki today. Things were not looking good in the morning though. The webcam showed only small waves and weather reports said it was very cold. Finally we plucked up the courage to head over to Santa Cruz, a lovely drive over the mountains. Hired a wetsuit and board. There’s me with a surf board!

Nikki gave me a very quick lesson in what to do. The water was freezing, not frozen obviously but it was really really cold. Braving cold water we ventured out to find have a go. Since I’ve never been before and Nikki is quite good I needed a few tips. After a short while I managed to not get the nose of my board to go directly under the waves. This allowed me to get on top on a few and stumble to my feet before falling off. After that I was cold and tired, it’s really hard work on your shoulders. We retired to find Falafel and Tea
