Night out in Chorlton

This Friday I went out with JohnBoy to Chorlton-cum-hardy, or Chorlton short. Now I’ve lived in Manchester for many years and yet have never been out in Chorlton drinking. It’s one of those places that always seems too far away from the centre of town and there’s not at the top of the list. However, it’s got a great reputations for going out drinking. In recent years Chorlton has become a trendy place to live and go out. As a result there are a number of small bars that have DJs playing in the corner.

We started in Polar bar with a few pints of Staropramen (now, that’s odd…I’m drinking water out of a Staropramen glass while writing this) which is nearly as bad as drinking Stella for me. Anyway – after a number of funny conversations we moved on to another bar, think it was called Bar 4 Eighty. That didn’t last too long before we moved next door to Lounge. However, we left immediately to go over to Revise to meet up with Chris. Then we decided to head back to Lounge for a few drinks. How by this point it was getting to midnight and the bar was closing. What is someone supposed to do with the prospect of a closing bar? Find somewhere else to drink, obviously. We found a taxi and headed for 42nd Street. Now if you clicked on that link you might think it’s a nice club but you’d be very wrong! It’s one of the dirty clubs of Manchester. However, it’s always good if you’ve had a few and the beer is cheap. Friday is Indie and Rock night, so it’s always one of those jump around to Indie anthems nights. Stella and 1.20 a bottle leads to one hell of a hangover!
