Dinner with Gav

Out in Mountain View with Gav for dinner. We began by doing a timed test walk from what could be his apartment to Castro St. Turns out it’s only 15-20 mins walk, easy! Then the choice, Zucca, Xanh, Temptation, etc? Well, we decided to try the new wine bar/restaurant after being turned away from Temptation which was hosting a private party. It doesn’t really have a wine bar and seems to be under new ownership, again. The food was okay, but nothing to write home about.

Temptation & Drinks at Zucca

Before going away to Tahoe, Nikki and I are spending the evening in downtown mountain view. Dinner at Temptation, which was amazing, followed by drinks at Zucca

Three new fish

After the sad departure of Pablo, we now have 3 new fish. Two are very shy.

Update: One of the fish didn’t look to well and unfortunately died 🙁

mmm, burgers!

What a way to end a sunny weekend that with some homemade gourmet burgers.  Unfortunately I made them slightly too large so there’s some left for tomorrow.  too bad 😉

The compact SUV

I know there’s a trend these days for everyone to get rid of their big SUVs or Minivan get a Hybrid or crossover SUV.  However, it’s just not acceptable that owners of SUVs think they have ‘compact’ vehicles.  Here’s a perfect example from the strip-mall on Stevens Creek by Elephant Bar.

Of the 5 compact spaces in this picture, 3 have SUVs in them, not the crossover kind either!

Swinging into summer

Today felt like summer!  I picked out a lightweight white shirt for the 70+F temperature today.  Driving to work I needed sunglasses, out to lunch with the A/C on full.   Then leaving work at 7pm in a short sleeve shirt and it didn’t feel cold.   Woohoo!  Bring on the summer.

New taillights on my tC

I’ve finally got new taillights on my Scion tC.  This has been a long process of getting the right lights and figuring out how to fit them.

They look much better than the stock taillights and now I can get the car washed because there’s no crack (thanks to someone at work who smashed them)

Valentines 2008

Nikki and I went to Birks restaurant for Valentines day.  This is one of my favorite restaurants in the area but for some reason I’d never taken Nikki.  Well, they didn’t let us down, the steak was amazing, wine excellent.   To finish it all off, the white chocolate cheese cake was to die for.  Where for next year?   That’ll need to be somewhere very special, I think.

Transitive guys back in town

The Transitive guys were back in town today.  Most of them had been Snowboarding up in the amazing conditions during the last week.  They (Paul, Richard, Gav and Gareth) took the time out to meet up at Bobbies for lunch before catching the flight home.  Clearly I didn’t have enough of my old colleagues as we also had dinner at King of Krung in Mountain View.
