Planning the ultimate road trip

As the GumBall 3000 draws to a close, I’m thinking about planning a road trip/rally of my own. What better way to get a group of friends to have fun and see the amazing landscape of America. The idea originally came to me last year when driving up highway 395 from Palm Springs to Lake Tahoe. This was an epic journey, but still not as inpiring at the Sonora Pass trip the year before that.

So, what would it take? Well, of course you’d need a good car. My Z4 Coupe should work nicely for that. Then some extra equipment:

  • A navigator
  • Radar Detector
  • GPS (built in)
  • iPhone tracking and telemetry app (check!)
  • Some chargers for all of the above (check!)
  • Two way radios
  • Windscreen camera mount (check!)
  • Digital Camcorder (i have one but it’s not very good)
  • Digital SLR, for those vista shots (check!)

That seems about all you’d need. Oh, perhaps some roadside coverage and maybe temporary logos on the cars, GumBall style.

Anyway interested in signing up?
