Dinner at the Grill

Another excellent dinner at the Grill in Los Altos. It’s such a great place. We have a new favorite waitress there too, Tara.

Fathers Day 2009

Having recently got married I experienced my first real American Fathers day, now that I have an American Father-In-Law. We had a nice BBQ by the pool, a swim and just a little booze.

Earthquakes Game

Went with Brian and Anand to see the second game this year against LA Galaxy at the Oakland Colosseum. This was also the first time I’ve seen Earthquakes win (2-1)

Dinner at The Cliff House

After meeting with Janae to pick up our wedding photos we had a nice dinner at the Cliff House in SF.

Tony & Alex’s Bachelor/Bachelorette party

Tony and Alex got a Trolley car with a bar and disco onboard for their combined Bachelor/Bachelorette party. We visited a few bars along the way, for bathroom breaks and then ended up at The Mighty for The Martinez Brothers.  Since it was going to be a boozy evening we got a room at The Palace hotel, very nice!

Trolley Mayhem

I drank a lot and don’t really remember getting back to the Palace hotel. Sunday was pretty much a write off due to the hangover.

Driving in Bali

I didn’t drive in Bali, we were driven everywhere in Bali. We got a lot of advice about not driving given how dangerous the roads are and how there are no rules. Apparently; “nobody breaks the rules of the road in Bali, there are no rules”.

Scooters and Rice workers going home from work

Scooters and Rice workers going home from work

Here’s a few things I experienced

  • Scooters are suitable transport for up to 4 people
  • A scooter carrying only one person is taking up too much road space
  • Horns are used to indicate; you are passing, getting someone’s attention, approaching a junction and about to go round a corner
  • When there are two lanes, you drive between the lanes unless there’s someone next to you
  • When there’s 1 lane in each direction and nobody else on the road, drive in the center of the road
  • Car should never be drive about 35mph
  • Trucks can go any speed
