Taste of Chicago

While Nikki was off with the bridal party making handbags I took the opportunity to walk up to Taste of Chicago.  Now this is just an amazing event, not only are all the local restaurants there with samples of their menu’s for sale but there’s also a lot of performers.  There’s cookery lessons, live bands, street performers, promo stuff, like people dressed up as Blackberry’s.   Of course the food and drink was the real highlight.  While the BBQ Turkey leg is something to be tried I wasn’t as excited about it as the Itanlian Beef and Polish sausage.

Arriving in Chicago

After checking into the McCormick Hyatt in Chicago Nikki and I went downtown for some lunch.   Stopping under “the bean” at a cafe which had a live stage by one of the local radio stations with peformance by Karlye (http://www.chicagochick.com).

After lunch it was time to go on the Architectural boat tour, this is something that we didn’t have time for last year.   The regular river tour wasn’t running today, but for only $2 more they were offering a river and lake tour.  This was really worth doing as you get to see a lot of the buildings and Navy Pier.   As you might expect the narration was done a local guy with a gift of the gab.  Turns our he was also an extra in the movie Risky Business where he was the waiter.  Anyway, this was by far the best city tour, it’s not too long but the river is lined with so many unique buildings.

Working out in the desert

It may be 110F outside but we still managed to start the day with a workout in the gym.  Wouldn’t you with a view like that from the gym?

RoadTrip!

I have completed the first stage of the spring roadtrip.   485 miles, 7 hours 25 minutes of driving and we’re in Palm Desert for a vacation.  With the drive staring at 4am we missed all the traffic and had a good smooth run.   Comfortable inside the little Scion tC while the outside temperature rose from the 60s to the 90s.

Travis’ Graduation

We went the graduation of the final Kenyon, Travis at Homestead.  Travis was part of the school choir so sang at the event, held in a church on Homestead.

WWDC

Another year, another WWDC.  This year I got to attend the Keynote for the launch of the new iPhone.  I’ve never seen so many press and security at WWDC before.
