So angry as Scion

Only a day after my bad hybrid experience, Toyota of Sunnyvale’s service department provided more excellent news.   From 9am on Monday morning until 5:20pm on Wednesday Toyota managed to discover “…cannot reproduce the problem.”   When I dropped the car off I told them to just get in and slam the door, the roof will rattle.  At 5:30 there was no Service Manager, General Manager, Sales Manager or Service Director available to talk to.  They claim that everyone had gone home.   So, tomorrow morning I have to head down there and find out from the Service Manager why over a two month period and 9 days of not having my car; the end result is my car being worse that when it first went in!

Hybrid, the flat battery future is here!

I’ve been driving a hybrid Toyota Highlander since my tC is being fixed again.  Its an impressive car, spacious, refined, quick and averaging. 20 mpg.  Not bad for an SUV.  However, as I write this I’m stuck outside work waiting for a Toyota tech to turn up and jump start the stupid thing!  How can a Hybrid run out of electric so much that the car will not unlock, start, turn on lights or even acknoledge its own existence?  This only goes to confirm my theory that hybrids are bad, driven by idiots or just to complicated for their own good.Of course, all this is not good news for Toyota.  It pretty much rules out me ever buying another vehicle from themhybrid2.jpg

New taillights on my tC

I’ve finally got new taillights on my Scion tC.  This has been a long process of getting the right lights and figuring out how to fit them.

They look much better than the stock taillights and now I can get the car washed because there’s no crack (thanks to someone at work who smashed them)

Valentines 2008

Nikki and I went to Birks restaurant for Valentines day.  This is one of my favorite restaurants in the area but for some reason I’d never taken Nikki.  Well, they didn’t let us down, the steak was amazing, wine excellent.   To finish it all off, the white chocolate cheese cake was to die for.  Where for next year?   That’ll need to be somewhere very special, I think.

Application Support Center

I had to go down to the application support center in San Jose yesterday.  This is the next step in my being permanently here in California.   However, it really is an odd place.  There’s a TV with bunny ears that’s almost unwatchable in the waiting area.  To top that, if you ever want to find a really wide cross section of cultures and people from around the world, a visa processing center is the place.   Of course everyone there is a from outside the country but all force to follow the same process, that certainly made for good people watching while waiting for my appointment.

SuperBowl

Super Bowl at Old Pro in Palo Alto.  What a day to stop drinking.  Can you see the size of that pitcher on the table?  For most of the afternoon they were filled with Stella.  To help celebrate properly Tequila shots were also included.
