I couldn’t have asked for a better weekend to make me realize why moving to California was such a good idea. It’s the middle of February and I spent the entire weekend in shorts and a t-shirt. Temperatures were pushing 70F (~21C) so while the pool was too cold to swim, sitting there reading a book felt amazing. With England struggling into the 50’s I was feeling a little smug.

Snakes in a car
Friday, Nikki and looked after her niece and nephew, Madison and Charlie. This meant visiting a new place for me, Chuck E Cheese’s. It’s quite a place if you’re a kid, with all the games, fun, pizza and prizes. However, for adults it can be best described as bad pizza and everyone elses kids being very annoying.
I spent most of the evening with Charlie, who was good at the Spongebob games. Highlights of the included Charlies response to “What flavor ice cream do you want?” was a simple “Cold!” You can’t beat that.

Valentines Day
Well, it came and went. I spent the evening with Nikki having a nice meal and bottle of wine. For dinner we chose Bistro Vida in Menlo Park. It’s a nice small French restaurant with a good selection of food. Unfortunately they ran out of Filet Mignon just as I ordered. After dinner we headed to the BBC (British Bankers Club) for a drink. However, it seemed we’d entered the singles hip-hop zone.
Toyota Prius drivers
I’ve noticed a pattern recently; all Toyota Prius drivers are dangerous on the road.
It makes me wonder, are they playing with the fancy onboard computer, checking if they’re using the electric or petrol motor. Another possibility is that they’re driving in a way which conserves fuel. This certainly seems possible, since I seem to find them driving slowly in front of me and braking. This is even worse when they’re in the commuter lane thinking they’re saving the world.
Add to the “on the road”, “in the parking lot”. It turns out that they can’t park either. Nearly every morning when I get into work there’s a Prius parked diagonally in a space.
New Scion tC
There’s a new Scion tC been announced this week. Only 3 months after buying mine it finally got a revamp.
It seems like they’ve not changed all that much, despite this article referring to it as “an Extreme Makeover”. When I’ve got the new front grills, ariel and other things on my car it should be looking just as good.
A-Team sighting
When down in San Louis Obispo this last weekend there was an interesting vehicle parked outside.
Unfortunately, “B.A.” Baracus and “Hannibal” where nowhere to be seen. It would appear that “B.A.” isn’t quite as good at maintaining his van these days.
Weekend in San Louis Obispo
This weekend Nikki and I headed down to San Louis Obispo for her mums birthday weekend. We were all booked into a nice small hotel just off 101.
F. McLintocks steak house. Boy can that place cook steak, I sampled the Filet Mignon wrapped in bacon with jumbo shrimp.
The following day, we headed to Pismo Beach for coffee on the pier. It was nice to relax in the sun, in February!!!! and watch the surfers. The real celebration was yet to come though….at McPhee’s Grill in Templeton. Templeton itself is a tiny town just off 101 but has an excellent restaurant. You’d hardly know it was there but they have the most amazing buffet.
Of course this was SuperBowl weekend and we had to see at least some of the game. Back in the car we headed north to Santa Clara for some more food, beers and men running around in pads after a funny shaped ball, in the rain! Apparently India, or was it Indianapolis won this years most prestigious prize in football.

Art opening last night
We attended the art opening (previously mentioned) last night. Unfortunately there weren’t as many people there as there should have been. The evening ended well though, with drinks in Antonio’s Hut House.
